Who is eligible to apply?

All members of any media outlets working in the greater midwest are eligible to apply.

 

What is the deadline to apply?

The application deadline for the EFOL: Journalists program is Thursday, April 23rd, 2020.*

*Applications may be accepted beyond this date based on space and availability at hotel.

 

How will attendees be selected?

The OAFEE reserves the right to choose attendees based on application and availability. First-time applicants will receive precedence over past attendees. A maximum of 15 attendees will be chosen to participate in the program. Accepted applicants will be notified by email following the registration deadline of April 23rd, 2020.

Will my registration fee be refunded?

If you are not chosen to particpate in this seminar, your registration fee of $20 will be refunded within one week of the close of the event.

What is the cancellation policy?

As a professional courtesy (and to avoid hotel fees incurred on behalf of the OAFEE), please contact us at least three days prior to the start date of the event, should you need to cancel at any time following confirmation of your acceptance. A refund of the registration fee will not be granted for cancellations made within this three-day window.

 

What is included in the event?

The event includes an opening night "Kick-off Dinner" hosted by the OAFEE, followed by two days of professional instruction in economics at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Food and drink (light breakfast, lunch and snack service) are provided for the duration of the program by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

 

A two-night stay (Sunday, May 17th & Monday, May 18th, 2020, with checkout on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020) is provided in a double occupancy room at the W Chicago - City Center.

 

All eligible participants will receive a travel voucher (in the form of a personal check) for $200 upon completion of the seminar. Please allow at least four weeks for processing.

Please note: A credit card is required upon check-in for incidentals incurred beyond overnight room fee and taxes. Attendees are also responsible for travel and parking expenses beyond voucher.

How do I qualify for the voucher?

A $200 travel voucher is earned by participating in all functions of the three-day event, including the Sunday night Kick-off Dinner, Monday and Tuesday seminar sessions, as well as breakfast and lunch on both seminar days. Completion of the online course evaluation at the conclusion of the seminar on Tuesday is required. Please allow at least 4 weeks for processing of checks following the seminar.

NOTE: To remain in compliance with Lakeland University and IRS protocol, a completed W-9 Form must be on file before check can be processed. Form will be made available upon acceptance to program.

Do I need to make a reservation at the hotel?

No. The OAFEE will provide a rooming list to the hotel following the deadline date of April 23rd, 2020. The information provided in the registration form below will be used to reserve your space at the event. Please complete the form in its entirity and provide any necessary information in the appropriate fields. Every effort will be made to meet your requests.
